I tried something new recently… sushi! A member of our church wanted to take me, and I saw this as a chance for a little adventure. At best, I’m a novice when it comes to sushi. I must admit…I was somewhat reluctant to take some of the things that were on my plate and put them into my mouth. However, once I did, I enjoyed it! The Japanese Bagel was banging! Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese!
At some level, we all have an adversity to change, especially BIG change. Big change is painful. But, big change is also unavoidable. One way to help us overcome this adversity to change is by introducing it into our personal lives in small doses. Try ordering a new item at a favorite restaurant… or better yet, try a new restaurant. Listen to a different style of music for a day. Read a new magazine. Change the furniture in your home or office. Small changes like this will stretch you a little, and help prepare you for the BIG change that is inevitable.
I take my 4 year old on a daddy date every now and then for sushi. When she’s with me eating sushi, she’ll try anything. Last time she ate two whole squid. Put her at a table with someone who thinks its gross (also read has never tried sushi) and she’ll think twice about something new.
Our perspective toward change may have bigger implications than just ourselves. Pass the unagi, please.
Son, you may not have always been able to tell your story when you were younger, but, you are telling The Story now. Your blog is great! Thank you for sharing your story, your faith, and your life for Christ. You are a wonderful husband and father; one who pleases God. I love you, son, and I am so very proud of you. Keep being yourself and keep telling The Story! You are impacting lives everyday.
Sushi is amazing!! acutally, I go eat Sushi with my brother sometimes (when I’m at home of course… hahaha), and its like the time we have to be together and talk about the thoughts that are occupying our heads at that momment. So, sushi is like a double happiness: 1. good food 2. a good time!
Ask your brother about sushi… I think I may be responsible. Try the eel, dynamite roll, volcano… It’s all good.
EW….I don’t know. I like a little adventure in my life as well, but sushi???? YIKES! Scary! 🙂 Good for you though. ~Amy
i think sushi is gross. i cant get over that it is raw fish! i have never tried it but i dont plan on it.
I have always LOVED sushi and enjoy hearing when sushi-virgins give it a go. I think people need to remember that life is all about new experiences and that they should just dive in, instead of being hesistant and regretting it later! Also, not all sushi has raw fish, some of it is vegetarian and some of it is cooked! Sushi has something for everyone!
